Ella Feuersthaler is an undergraduate student at Northern Illinois University where she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in instrumental music education as well as a certificate in Asian American studies. As an educator, Ella recognizes every student is unique and utilizes a specialized approach when teaching. She holds an emphasis on student-centered learning, goal making and inclusivity at her core. She also believes that developing great techniques and habits can be fun. Every ounce of progress should be celebrated no matter how big or small.
Ella has over 10 years of violin experience in addition to six years of viola experience. In regard to music instruction, she has been teaching students ages 6-18 for over five years in private and public-school settings in orchestra and elementary general music. Ella currently studies violin under Professor Mathias Tacke but also works closely with other string faculty members at NIU. During her time at NIU, she is an active member of the NIU Philharmonic, Chinese Music Ensemble,secretary of NIUs World Music club, vice president of NIU’s Illinois Collegiate Music Education Association (ILCMEA) chapter and president of NIU’s American String Teachers’ Association (ASTA) chapter.
Ella truly believes that every student is capable of musicality but the first step is falling in love with music.
