Michael Grunze has been involved in music for his entire life. He began with piano and guitar before discovering his passion for percussion at the age of ten. During his time at Western Illinois University, he performed in a wide range of ensembles, including steel band, marching band, jazz combos, concert band, concert choir, and percussion ensemble. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2010.
Following graduation, Michael continued to perform with several bands and also became a licensed massage therapist, earning certification in the field. His diverse background contributes to his well-rounded and mindful approach to teaching.
As a percussion ensemble teacher, Michael is committed to creating a student-centered learning environment. He emphasizes a holistic approach to music education—encouraging not only technical skill but also creativity, collaboration, and personal growth through performance.
