Hi! I’m Hudson Schill, a cellist from Texas that is very excited to be teaching here at The Music Connection. I earned my B.M. in Cello Performance from the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied with Bion Tsang. I later earned my M.M. in Cello Performance with a Suzuki Pedagogy Certificate from the Lamont School of Music in Denver, studying with Matthew Zalkind and Meta Weiss.
I’m currently completing a Performance Certificate at Northern Illinois University, where I am also the cellist of one of NIU’s graduate string quartets. I’m a passionate chamber musician and have been a finalist in both the St. Paul and Coltman competitions. Chamber music is my favorite because of the connections it creates between players and with the audience. Through music, I’ve had the opportunity to travel and perform in Ireland, Italy, Hungary, Spain, Mexico, and many states across the United States, now including Illinois!
Outside of music, I love hiking, sports, cooking, and spending time with friends. My favorite sports basketball and volleyball and my favorite meal to make is chicken and green chile enchiladas, or really anything that reminds me of home! I love making music fun and encouraging students to be curious and creative, helping them build confidence through their playing. I’m excited to get to know my students and families and to share my love of the cello and music with this community!
