Keira Specht is a sophomore at NIU studying music performance with Marie Wang. She started playing violin with the NIU CSA Suzuki program at age 9, participating in orchestra at school throughout middle and high school in Dekalb. One of her favorite ways to play music is chamber music, playing in a string quartet in high school and at NIU. She also plays with the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the NIU Philharmonic, and has dabbled in various styles; playing in Mariachi groups and exploring some Romanian/Eastern European fiddle.
Keira’s approach to music is community-based and she believes that music is the most fun when it is shared. The student’s enjoyment is the top priority, and learning with Keira will be collaborative, exciting, and rewarding!
